What is a WCMS

WCMS stands for web content management system. A software system which allows a user with
little or no knowledge of programming language skills like HTML and XML to create and manage web pages easily.

Create CMS

The CREATE software allows the school to update their website through a browser-based editor. Within the editor it is possible to upload and add images or text to pages. Text size and colour can be changed and hyper links added to take the viewer to other websites, documents or pages within the site.

Site Structure

The user can create their own site structure by adding top level navigation and assigning sub pages to these. Pages can be hidden from general navigation. Meta tags can also be add to specific pages.

Users

Multiple users and user groups can be created with a varying degree of access to the site and its functionality. Areas of the website can be password protected.

Slide Show

Slide shows can be created and added to pages. The duration of time they appear on-screen before moving to the next slide is controlled by the user. An ideal way of displaying multiple images without taking up lots of page space.

Data Centre

Forms can be created to enable the school to add holiday requests, sickness, uniform orders onto web pages. Submitted forms can be emailed to multiple addresses.

Events

Events can be added to the calendar which can be displayed on one or more pages. Events on the calender can be specific to user groups or visible by all visitors.

Hit Counter

The hit counter records hits to specific pages on your website and can be reset at any time.

Latest News

A module enabling the the administrator to add, categorise and archive articles. Articles can also be user level specific.

Page Alias

Allows the user to add meaningful words to replace the page id in the address bar. This can also help with search engine optimisation and Google ranking.

RSS news reader

Allows you to retrieve the latest content from websites you are interested in and display them on your page. For more on RSS see the BBC as a good example.

Upload Documents

As well as being able to upload documents while adding them to a page, the software also provides a dedicated area for you to create document folders and manage your files easily.
